Visual Studio Configuration Utility for Modeler

Authors:

Description:

The Visual Studio Configuration Utility detects Microsoft Visual Studio on a system and creates desktop shortcuts to launch Modeler in an environment configured for the desired compiler. This utility simplifies the process of configuring your environment variables in order to support custom code compilation in Modeler, for example, when setting up a new machine with Modeler. Additionally, the utility makes it convenient to maintain multiple shortcuts for various versions of Modeler and Visual Studio environments.

Prerequisites:

At least one supported Modeler version and compiler version should be installed on the system.

Usage:

  • Download and copy over the VSConfigUtil.exe utility locally
  • Double-click to launch the utility
  • Select a Modeler release
  • Select a compiler version and bitness
  • Confirm selection
  • Double-click on the batch file created on the desktop to run Modeler!

The above steps will create two batch files on the desktop:

  1. Launch Modeler <modeler_release>_<visual_studio_release>_<bitness>_Console.bat
  2. Launch Modeler <modeler_release>_<visual_studio_release>_<bitness>.bat

#1 will launch Riverbed/OPNET console configured with desired compiler environment.

#2 will launch Modeler within desired compiler environment.
